Adams Morgan Culturally diverse and artistic, Adams Morgan is centered around the intersection of 18th and Columbia Road NW. Decorated with colorful murals and storefronts, sidewalk cafes, ethnic cuisine, coffee shops, and vintage stores-Adams Morgan is known as one of the hippest neighborhood with some of DC’s best live music venues. Architecturally, Adams Morgan is composed primarily of historic row homes built in the 19th and early 20th century. However since 2001, new residential developments have moved into the neighborhood boasting modern lofts and condos with more than 5100 new units already built and 1300 more units to be completed in the near future. A new Harris Teeter grocery store has further grounded the area as a strong residential address for both families and young professionals in search of the perfect urban oasis. American University Park Adjacent to American University, this charming NW neighborhood was one of the first in DC developed for residents with automobiles in the 1920s and comprised almost entirely of single family homes. Many architectural styles are represented here, but most homes boast stoops and front porches, adding to the community spirit of the neighborhood.
AU Park’s quiet suburban tree-lined streets, yet close proximity to Metro, Downtown DC, and shopping, make this wonderful neighborhood popular with young families and professionals. Residents often recreate at Turtle Park, a perfect place for neighborhood fairs, little league, and ice cream socials. Brookland Burleith One of DC’s more upscale neighborhoods, Buleith is situated just north of Georgetown and south of Glover Park. Burleith is composed of about 530 row homes built in the 1920s and is a popular neighborhood for professionals, families and Georgetown students.
Hillandale, an exclusive 24-hour gated community is also considered part of Burleith. The 78 acres which encompasses Hillandale was owned until 1979 by the family of John Dustin Archbold, one of US’s first oil refiners. Hillandale offers privacy and tranquility along with a beautiful community pool, tot lot and tennis courts. This fine address is now home to prominent Congressmen and Washington power players.
